CARNIVAL 2002 – CELEBRATING BRITAIN!
St Mary’s Village Carnival's theme this year is ‘Celebrating Britain’ – and part of this will be celebrating the Queen’s Golden Jubilee. We need to find our own Carnival Queen as well – if you are aged between 8 and 12 and are either in the congregation of St Mary's Church or you live in Edlesborough, Eaton Bray, Dagnall or Northall, you might like to be chosen. If so, the selection of the Carnival Queen and attendants will take place at 11.30am on Sunday 21st April in Eaton Bray Village Hall. Application forms are available from Catherine Evans and must be returned by 14th April.
Talking of Eaton Bray Village Hall, some of the proceeds from the carnival will be given to the refurbishment fund for the hall. The other good causes already nominated are the St Mary’s Church Fabric Fund and the Silver Star Unit. The Silver Star Unit is based in Oxford and supports pregnant women and their babies who have special needs. In addition, the Carnival Committee is always keen to hear of local charities and good causes that might benefit from a donation from the Carnival proceeds. If you would like to recommend a local charity or good cause please contact the Carnival Committee chairman, Gordon Gray.
If you would like to get involved in the Carnival there are plenty of ways to do this – decorate your house, join in the Carnival procession, run a charity stall (contact Robert Tigg), advertise in the programme (speak to Mick Beale) or just turn up on the day to enjoy all the entertainment on offer. If you would like to help out, please contact any of the Carnival Committee or visit the website. If you can lend equipment such as lorries for the procession, gazebos or tents, please let us know. Alternatively, you may wish to donate a prize for the Grand Draw.
