ROLL UP! ROLL UP! IF YOU WANT TO BE CARNIVAL QUEEN
It's almost time to select this year's Carnival Queen, Princess and attendants, who will lead the Procession at this year's St Mary’s Village Carnival on Saturday 5th July. This year the selection will take place at 11.30am on Sunday 6th April in Eaton Bray Village Hall. If you are aged between 8 and 12 and are either in the congregation of St Mary's Church or you live in Edlesborough, Eaton Bray, Dagnall or Northall, you might like to be chosen. If so, application forms are available from Yvonne Ranson.
Plans for this year's Carnival are already underway and the theme chosen is ‘The Circus’. Among the attractions already confirmed for this year are the Ferris Wheel, a Circus skills workshop, a hot air balloon, vintage car display and the Birds of Bray. For children there will be circus face painting and a range of amusements, as well as the fancy dress competition (this last one is also open to adults, and there will be a prize for the best fancy-dressed family!). Crafts on display will include a beehive maker and basket maker.
We are looking for a volunteer (a business or an individual) to sponsor two air tickets to Rome as part of the first prize in the Grand Draw. If you can help us here please contact Gordon Gray. Similarly, if you can lend us a low-sided lorry for the procession or simply help out on the day of the carnival, please contact one of the Carnival committee.
There is still plenty of time to enter a float for the Procession if you, your organisation or company would like to join in. If you live on the route of the Carnival don't forget that the best dressed house and shop will also win a prize, so now's the time to dream up the decorating ideas. If you would like to advertise in the Carnival programme or donate a prize for the Grand Draw or tombola, all the information on this can be found on the Carnival website, or alternatively contact one of the Carnival Committee.
