ROLL UP! ROLL UP! FOR THE CARNIVAL

Or should that be ‘Oyez! Oyez!’ as the Town Crier will be at Edlesborough Green on Saturday 5th July for the 2003 St Mary’s Village Carnival. The Carnival will be opened by Sue Parker at 1.30pm on Edlesborough Green. She will be accompanied by the Carnival Queen, Princess and attendants, who will lead the Carnival Procession. The Carnival Procession starts from The Orchards in Eaton Bray at 12.30pm. If you live on the Procession route (and even if you don’t!) why not decorate your house for the Carnival – there are prizes for the best.

Making a welcome return to the Carnival this year will be the Dog Show, organised by Grovebury Dog Club. Entry forms are available from the Carnival website and on the day from the registration tent. Judging starts at 11am.

Other competitions include the fancy dress competition (for best child’s costume and best family costume) and for those aged 16 or under, the video diary competition – details of this are on the website. If you are feeling lucky, make sure you buy tickets for the Grand Draw – the first prize is a luxury weekend for two in Rome.

This year’s Carnival attractions include a hot air balloon, Ferris wheel, Clarabel the Cow, a circus skills workshop, display of fire-eating, the Birds of Bray, chainsaw carving, children’s amusements, craft stalls and a display of classic cars. There’s something for everyone – so remember the date – 5th July - and see you there!
