ROLL UP! ROLL UP! CARNIVAL QUEEN NOW CHOSEN
This year’s Carnival Queen will be 11 year old Tayler-Anne Crawford, who was selected from a total of 24 young hopefuls. The 2003 Carnival Princess will be Rachael Evans, with Olivia Berry and Hannah Reddington as their attendants. The girls will lead the Carnival Procession on Saturday 5th July, in one of Honeywick Carriages' horse-drawn carriages. This year the girls' outfits are provided by Confetti Bridal Wear, with their hair styled by Chicks Crop Shop and flowers from the Village Flower Shop.
Dog Show at Carnival
Plans for the Carnival are well underway. A popular attraction will no doubt be the Dog Show – our thanks to Chris Oxtoby and Jackie Hillman of Grovebury Dog Club for organising this. There will be two classes – pedigree and novelty. Applications for both are available from the Carnival website.
Star Prize
A highlight of the Grand Draw this year will be the weekend break for two people at a 4 star hotel in Rome. There will also be a range of other attractive prizes, so make sure you buy plenty of tickets!
Joining in!
If you want to get involved in the Carnival there’s still plenty of time! As well as entering a float in the Procession or decorating your house if it’s on the Procession Route (for which you could win a prize) you can still book a stall - contact Rebecca Shaw. Alternatively, the fancy dress competition gives you scope to wow the village with the best costume! Don’t forget - the theme of this year’s Carnival is the Circus.
For youngsters, there is also the opportunity to make a photographic record of the Carnival – the best ones will feature on the carnival website.
As ever, if you want to help with the running of the Carnival, the Committee would be delighted to hear from you! Visit the website or contact Gordon Gray.
What does a skep-maker make?
To find out, you’ll have to come to the Carnival! Skep-making is a traditional craft and will be demonstrated at the Carnival, along with basket-making and carving. Other attractions include a hot air balloon, Ferris Wheel, go-karts, bonsai display, the Birds of Bray, vintage vehicles and bouncy castles. As well as this there will be arena displays, a circus skills workshop and plenty of stalls to browse.
See you there!
