Well, we have come to the end of another Carnival year and although it is still early days yet our preliminary figures suggest that this year we made the fantastic profit of just over £10,000. Congratulations! October Focus will carry details of how this will be distributed but if you have a local cause that you wish to put forward for a grant then send us a message by visiting our website (stmarysvillagecarnival.com)
So now to the thanks. First a great big thank you all those hundreds of people who were involved in making The Carnival the huge success that it was this year. Whether you were on a Church stall, a stall supporting your local organisation, a commercial stall of whatever sort, in the procession, whether you decorated your house or helped in the background, each one of you contributed hugely to the fun of the day and we thank you. Thanks also to all the people and organisations that support our Carnival as a part of their commitment to the local community. And finally, of course, a thank you to the thousands who lined the route or flocked to the Green despite the disappointing weather – it is a measure of how much St Mary’s Village Carnival has been taken to the hearts of the local and surrounding communities that people come knowing that even in the rain they will have an enjoyable time.
