Five hundred ducks have been rounded up and their bottoms individually branded with numbers* and they are now in training for the fifth 'annual' Duck Race to be held on the River Ouzel in this parish. Come along and watch the event.

  • Date: Saturday 12 July Time: Race starts 1pm
  • Venue: In the stream that runs beside the footpath from Summerleys to The Meads, starting after a barbed wire barrier and finishing at the bridge at the end of The Meads where many of you will have played ‘Pooh sticks’.
MAKE SURE YOU BUY A DUCK - £1

To limit the number of ducks in such a small stream two sets of tickets are being sold and the prizes will be:

  • 1st Prize – 2 Winners will share 15% of takings
  • 2nd Prize - 2 Winners will share 10% of takings
  • 3rd Prize - 2 Winners will share 5% of takings

For example, if all 500 ducks are sold twice over then the two first prize winners will each receive £75. Ducks will be on sale before the race, including at the Open Gardens event on 8 June, at the Carnival and on Race Day, assuming any are left. We’ll see you there.
