Carnival 2010 - Inventions
Classic Vehicles
There are many different names for and types of classic vehicles. Veteran, vintage, historic, saloons, convertibles, sports, racing, motorcycles, vans, tractors, lorries, cars, mass produced, hand built, specialist vehicles such as fire engines. Even an old lawnmower has been seen displayed on the green! The list is almost endless, but any vehicle that puts a smile on your face when you see it is almost certainly a classic. A lot of the exhibitors here today are members of specialist clubs that deal solely with one marque of vehicle, or maybe one type such as tractors. They are all very proud of their vehicles, most of which they have lovingly restored or renovated. Many of the vehicles on display are in better condition now than when they left the factory that made them.
Please talk to the exhibitors. They will be delighted to answer your questions and discuss the history and renovation of their vehicle with you. Health and safety as we know it now wasn’t around when most of these vehicles were made. Please don’t poke around, touch, or get into any of the vehicles on display unless you are invited to by the vehicle’s exhibitor. This especially applies to all children in your care.
Some of the vehicles on display will be parading in the main arena later this afternoon. There is not enough time or room for all the classic vehicles to take part in the arena parade, so if you want to see them all please visit the display area.
